Missing You

A dog trainer shared with me, and I also read it somewhere, that one of a dog's greatest fear is to be left alone, because they fear their owner will never return for them.

Maybe, this why, my doggies, Jasper and Joaqui, have their eyes on me most of the time. Returning home, leaving just for an hour or even less, I am greeted by the critters like they've not seen me for decades, hahah. (Can't say the same with my kids.)

Stopping To Smell The Roses

Three little roses, white in color ...

A curious doggie checking what's on the floor ...

Then came another, one with a cone. sniffing, sniffing ...

"Arghhh ... not something for the eating" ....

These were what their noses were tracking,
freshly-baked cookies (by me), ready for the attacking.

On Cones ... and Tweets

Joaqui loves watching the birds. He watches them when they feed, drink and bathe.

That's his tail at the right-most bottom corner of the photo.

Cones, I read, are used to prevent a dog from licking a wound, aggravating a hot spot, tearing out surgical stitches or removing a bandage.

Joaqui wears one because he scratches his ears once in a while. I take it out when he eats and drinks of course when he takes he baths). It's also off when I take him for a walk or whenever I have the time to monitor his actions.

He doesn't mind wearing it. I see to it that there is no issue on comfort, mobility and visibility on his part.

From This To This To That

Jasper . . . just remembering the time we were choosing another puppy to be with Joaqui . . .

to the day we brought him home at two months old . . .

we started training him and joining dog shows ...

then those happy winning moments (there were losing ones as well) ...

to the journey to be a Philippine Champion, to being elevated as a Grand Champion . . .

to winning 3rd Best in Group and claiming the title of Best Mini Schnauzer of 2009 ...

Jasper has been awarded this trophy when PCCI has declared him a Philippine Grand Champion and the Number One Schnauzer for the year 2009 . . .

to me, he's still my Jasper (si kulit).

Groom That Dog

Here's Joaqui on top of the grooming table. What's in his mind?

Joaqui must be saying to himself, "Hmmm, it's snip-snip time again. Brush here, ouch there."

Yes, grooming can be painful at times. Matted coat, usually at the tummy area and "under-the-arm", when combed can be painful 'coz the tangled hair is often times unintentionally pulled with a jerk. Ouch!

That is why, when I do comb and come across a tangle, I try to de-tangle manually with my bear hands. If the case if severe, I just cut-off the portion of the coat, but ensuring that the outcome would not be so horrible, heheh. But a decision must be made, right.

Periodic grooming is a must for it also serves as a check-up if everything is okay, especially with the coat. Eyes, ears, nails, nose, teeth, tongue, paws and "poop and pee areas" are also checked, in case something may be there that may be bothering the dog.

Waiting

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. Carl SaganNothing serious really. Joaqui here is just waiting for Jasper to come in after his own bath since Joaqui just finished his. Mind you, his favorite toy at his side,  "d' tennis ball".
