Pet Sayings

A dog is the only thing on earth that will love you more than you love yourself.
Josh Billings

Animals are such agreeable friends. They ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.
George Elliot

I used to look at (my dog) Smokey and think, 'If you were a little smarter, you could tell me what you were thinking,' and he'd look at me like he was saying, 'If you were a little smarter, I wouldn't have to.
Fred Jungclaus

I have a great dog. She's half Lab, half pit bull. A good combination. Sure, she might bite off my leg, but she'll bring it back to me.
Jimi Celeste

Don't make the mistake of treating your dogs like humans, or they'll treat you like dogs.
Martha Scott

When you leave them in the morning, they stick their nose in the door crack and stand there like a portrait until you turn the key eight hours later.
Erma Bombeck

My little dog, a heartbeat at my feet.
Edith Wharton

You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!'
Dave Barry

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Roger Caras
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.
Anatole France

They [dogs] never talk about themselves but listen to you while you talk about yourself, and keep up an appearance of being interested in the conversation.
Jerome K. Jerome

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human.
The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog.
Edward Hoagland

Money will buy you a pretty good dog, but it won't buy the wag of his tail.
Henry Wheeler Shaw

Tom's Little Dog by Walter de la Mare
Tom told his dog called Tim to beg,
And up at once he sat,
His two clear amber eyes fixed fast,
His haunches on his mat.Tom poised a lump of sugar on
His nose; then, "Trust!" says he;
Stiff as a guardsman sat his Tim;
Never a hair stirred he.
"Paid for!" says Tom; and in a trice
Up jerked that moist black nose;
A snap of teeth, a crunch, a munch,
And down the sugar goes!

Home, But Not Alone

My dogs are my constant companions. If not for them, I would be "home alone", heheh.

Below are photos of Joaqui and Jasper. They are my miniature schnauzers, my home-mates.

A Fine Day With The Dogs

It was a bright, sunny Saturday morning. I was satisfied seeing the flowers I have arranged. Then, I saw Joaqui walk to his mat where he takes his naps. It's cute just watching him in motion. These are the simple things that make me smile.

I told myself then, "It's cool that I am not alone today and I have the dogs to keep me company." I went back to my household chores, but . . . with a big smile on my face.

Busy Bodies

It was a no-work day, so I had my son in the kitchen, busy cooking . . .

and lo . . . another busy bee . . . or should I say, busy dog . . . was Jasper.

This hairy critter is truly curious, especially when his nose spots something yummy.

Agility Training, Rain or Shine

The rainy season has come, but the rains will not be a reason not to go for agility training.

Train, train, even with the rain, hahah.

We have the training area for ourselves, so we went ahead and proceeded to our "NO-LEASH" training. Great!

Not that easy, even the trainer should be fit, or else he would be getting tired ahead of the dog, LOL.

Weave poles are the hardest for us. One trainer advised us to focus on the long dog walk first then everything else will be easier. Of course the see-saw is a challenge because of the thumping sound when the plank hits the ground.

I guess the easiest to master would be the A-frame then the hurdles then the tire ring (though not that easy at first, and still with leash-on, take note).

The  tunnels are also great challenges because the dog can only hear your voice but cannot see you guiding him, especially the collapsed tunnel.

As I say, "just enjoy the journey", rain or shine.

Practice Makes Perfect

Hahah, we're far from that perfect state, the dogs, I mean.

Agility practice, that's where we are right now. We tried making available agility practice at home, even if just the hurdles and the weave poles for the moment (home-made, mind you).

It's good exercise for the dogs and for us as well, heheh.

This is what I keep in mind, "just enjoy the journey."

It's Time To Gather

It was a day to be with other dog owners who are interested to take home added knowledge on agility training.

The event was more on socializing, both for the dogs and the owners. Seeing and knowing that you are not alone in the dog-lovers world is fantastic, heheh.  So there are others who go crazy over their dogs too, huh.

Most of the dogs present has zero or little training on agility. The event hosts just wanted to introduce the subject matter to the owners and the related equipment to the dogs.

Over-all, it was another fruitful day of "just enjoying the journey" . . .
BOW WOW WOW!!!

Like You, Like Me

We attended a gathering of pet enthusiasts, specifically dog owners interested to go into dog agility training. It is always great to be with people like ourselves, dog owners, pet lovers and eager learners.

Agility and Fly Ball Competition

The PCCI held its very first Dog Agility Competition and Fly Ball Competition which turned out to be a success.

It was a 3-day event, from February 24 to 26, spearheaded by Mr. Simon Sim, an excellent PCCI judge and dog lover.

Practice training, through the set-up of the obstacle course and the presence of an obedience trainer, together with other dog owners interested in agility dog training, will be made available this month of March.

Try and try until we succeed, but have fun in the process. How about that for a motto, heheh.

Jasper's First Run

Reminiscing . . . let me recall . . .

Here's Jasper's first run on the agility obstacle course after a day of training. Of course am a proud Mama, though we have a long way to go as to committed time and training for Jasper to really get a hang on it. Good luck to us, heheh.

A Glimpse At the Dog Agilty Contest

Here's a smart beagle completing the agilty obstacle course. Mind you, this handsome critter, though a newbie in agility, is a champion show dog (Hall of Fame).

Agility Dogs, As Seen On TV

The Dog Agility Program is new to the PCCI Philippine Canine Club Incorporated). The Team overlooking the said program, headed by Mr. Simon Sim, was featured in a local television station.

Hahah, Jasper was an "extra" during the TV program. As Jasper's mom, was of course excited, my baby on TV, hahah.

(Shown on TV on February 12, 2012.)

A Look At The Fly Ball Event

Here's a sneak preview of the Fly Ball Event this month.

It was fun to be there and watch. The audience was cheering for the dogs. The children were eagerly backing up the dogs, hoping that they will complete the task fast and without mistakes. Ready, get set, go!!!

How about a peek on a"blooper"?

"Dog Show" Shows "Show Dogs"

Fun, fun, fun!!!

Yooohoo, so many dogs, big, small, black, white, hairy, skinny, plump, cute and scary. So many of them being groomed, some over excited while others are dozing off, many are eating and drinking (both the dogs and the people).

Here are some of the show dogs being prepared by their owners or handlers . . .

Awwww!
