A dog trainer shared with me, and I also read it somewhere, that one of a dog's greatest fear is to be left alone, because they fear their owner will never return for them.
Maybe, this why, my doggies, Jasper and Joaqui, have their eyes on me most of the time. Returning home, leaving just for an hour or even less, I am greeted by the critters like they've not seen me for decades, hahah. (Can't say the same with my kids.)
